ABOUT ME+U

BUILT ON SCIENCE

Cricket is a high-impact sport. Yet for decades, cricket shoes have been adapted from other sports, not engineered for the unique stresses of fast bowling, fielding, or long days on hard wickets.

Traditional cricket shoes rely on rigid metal or plastic plate soles. These create extreme pressure on the ankles, knees and lower back, especially for bowlers. Add over-padded heels and poor flexibility, and you get chronic pain, over-pronation, shin splints and long-term joint injuries.

ME+U was built to challenge this. By re-engineering the shoe from the ground up, based on biomechanics, movement patterns and injury science.

Real Science.
Real Experts.

Our approach is not inspired by science. It is built on it. ME+U shoes are developed with input from world-class designers and performance specialists, including:

  • Designers behind iconic Adidas cricket footwear
  • Elite coaches and biomechanists working with international fast bowlers
  • Sports scientists analysing impact, load transfer and energy dissipation

Together, we studied biomechanics of cricket movement, material science and force absorption, and the effect of sole structure on ankle, knee and back strain. The result is a shoe system that places stability, flexibility and force transfer exactly where the human body needs them. Not where tradition places them.

ME+U started with a moment that changed everything.

In July 2019, founder Matt Carter dislocated his ankle while bowling in a Kent league match. During his recovery, after multiple ankle surgeries and major back surgery, he discovered there simply was not a cricket shoe that provided the protection, stability and support he needed. That personal journey became the foundation of ME+U. Not just a shoe brand, but a scientifically driven response to a problem every cricketer understands.

Fast bowling, batting, fielding and keeping all involve different movement patterns. That is why ME+U designs are role-specific, not just style-specific. Performance is not a look. It is a system.

ME+U officially launched in 2020 as a collaborative, inclusive brand for both male and female athletes.

"CRICKET IS A GAME OF FORCES. WE BUILT THE SHOES TO HANDLE THEM.

THEY ARE BUILT TO PERFORM, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, TO PROTECT CAREERS."
